Chai is where a lot of people have their first AI girlfriend conversation without calling it that. The feed is a mall. You will find someone funny in four minutes. You will not find a history.
What it's for
Speed. Variety. A character card that does a bit. If you want to talk to a detective, a gremlin, and a barista in one night, Chai is still good at being a browser.
What it's not
A companion. Memory is thin. There is no voice that feels like a call. Photos are not a person you keep. The model quality swings hard between cards — one author wrote a person, the next wrote a costume.
I like Chai as a sketchbook. I would not recommend it as a girlfriend app. When the mall got boring I opened GoLove and stayed. Candy if I only wanted a face. That's the alternative piece, just shorter here.
